Magium is an interactive novel, reminiscent of the classic Choose Your Own Adventure books, that allows players to step into the shoes of a character named Barry. The game revolves around Barry's journey as he enters a perilous mage tournament, hoping to secure the prize that will enable him to fulfill his lifelong dream of becoming a mage himself.

Similar to other interactive novels, the story in Magium is heavily influenced by the choices made by players, with wrong decisions even leading to the protagonist's demise. However, Magium sets itself apart from traditional Choose Your Own Adventure games with the inclusion of upgradeable stats. Throughout the game, players receive points that can be used to enhance their character's abilities. These stats are periodically evaluated to determine if they are high enough to perform certain actions, such as understanding animal or monster languages if the ancient languages stat is sufficiently developed.

The story of Magium unfolds at the commencement of the tournament, immediately following the transportation of all participants to the tournament's location on a distant continent.

As the narrative progresses, players will encounter fellow participants, form alliances or make enemies, and delve deeper into their understanding of both the continent and its inhabitants. They will uncover fascinating details about this world, discovering that six hundred years ago, a figure known as "The Creator" established several utopias where humans and animals coexisted harmoniously and magic created food. However, these utopias have since crumbled, with some barely clinging to survival. The player's choices significantly impact the fate of these cities, providing an opportunity to save them if desired.

Magium's main storyline consists of five books, each spanning over one hundred thousand words.

The first book is available in its entirety and can be played for free, albeit with occasional advertisements. It comprises approximately 178k words or around 700 book pages, accounting for branching paths. On average, a playthrough lasts around 90k words or approximately 350 book pages.

The second book is also available in its entirety; however, players must first unlock it either by completing 25 out of the 35 available achievements or by purchasing the removal of ads in the first book. The second book encompasses a total of 277k words, encompassing all possible paths, equivalent to roughly 1100 book pages. A single playthrough on one path would consist of approximately 140k words, translating to around 550 pages.

While Book 3 has been completed, subsequent books will be released chapter by chapter as they are written. Book 3 alone contains roughly 445k words on all paths or about 1500 book pages of content.
